Nurse Consultant

The Naples office of Wicker Smith is looking for an experienced Nurse Consultant. Please note: This role will support attorneys in both our Naples and Sarasota offices, and candidates based in either city are encouraged to apply.

SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting supervising attorneys with management of all assigned cases and input on case related medical and legal issues.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

Assisting attorneys and firm management as requested. Evaluating incoming records, films, photos for completeness and/or alterations; confirming that there is a report to match each study included. Organizing medical records in chronological order. Summarizing all medical records prior to meetings, depositions, and trial. Retaining qualified experts. Review Medical records to assess appropriateness of treatment and offer insight into liability and causation issues and help with the defense strategy. Analyze medical records to evaluate care and status of the claimant.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND LICENSURE

Nursing degree is required. Skills/Abilities: Excellent typing skills; Ability to produce accurate work product in a timely manner and work in a team environment. Ability to use computer, copy/scanner, fax machine, telephone, and other office equipment. Knowledge of legal procedures, terminology, and processes helpful. Experience Required: Practical experience working in one of the following medical settings: hospital or nursing home or House Physician; Hospitalist; Physician's Assistant. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION Speaking: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Hearing: Ability to hear average or normal conversations. Finger Dexterity: Ability to type and pick-up small objects and dial the telephone. Repetitive Motions: Movements regularly require using the arms, wrists, hands, and or/fingers. Visual Abilities: Ability to inspect documents and operate office machinery. Physical Abilities & Strength: Sitting most of the time. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
