Ensures fresh fruits and vegetables are prepared and displayed in accordance with Company standards and all regulatory food safety practices. Promotes customer service and sales building practices. **SCOPE OF WORK**Displays a list of typical duties and accountabilities. List is not based on order of priority.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*** Works in conjunction with upper management to train and develop partners, schedule, plan, assign, and direct work. Assists with establishing departmental workflow and ensures adequate staff is scheduled.* Supports upper management with the review of historical data regarding sales, ads and promotions. Co-manages inventory using item management processes to ensure satisfactory in-stock levels. May review profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data with department manager.* Maintains full stock conditions on produce display racks, tables, and shelves.* Safely prepares fresh cut fruit for packaging, trays and juices.* Slices, weighs, packages, and labels product.* Promotes product sales through use of suggestive selling initiatives.* Inspects product for quality and maintains quality control and food safety standards. Ensures dated product is stocked, rotated, or discarded properly if unsold.* Uses sharp tools for cutting fruit. Cuts and trims product to ensure high quality presentation and appearance.* Takes precautionary safety measures when using equipment and work tools.* Operates pallet jack to unload product from warehouse trucks and reloads trucks with return items.* Assists fellow partners and customers by responding to price check questions and exchanging and/or locating product.* Provides friendly and customer service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions, and responding to customer complaints.* Maintains clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety procedures. Complies with all Company policies and procedures.* Practices high sanitary standards for handling raw and uncooked food products.**SKILLS AND EDUCATION****Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:*** Ability to operate manual or electric pallet jack.* Ability to safely operate and maintain department equipment.* Ability to handle objects carefully to avoid damage to items, people, vehicles, and property.* Ability to safely work with sharp objects such as knives, box cutters, etc.* Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.* Ability to work well with fellow partners and promote a team environment.* Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes using a variety of educational resources.* Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.* Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.**Education, Experience and Qualifications:*** High School Diploma or GED and one or more years of related experience required.* Minimum of 18 years of age required.* Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.* Food Handler certification required.* Typically involves on-the-job training.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT**Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.**Physical Demands:*** Continuously required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or the ability to focus.* Continuously required to stand or walk.* Continuously required to use hands for reaching, touching or handling.* Continuously required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 40 lbs.* Continuously required to bend, kneel or squat.* Frequently required to talk and hear.* Occasionally required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 75 lbs.* Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop or crawl.* Occasionally exposed to outside temperatures and weather.* Attendance at work is required.**Work Context and Environment:*** Work is generally performed in a retail store.* Occasionally exposed to extreme cold conditions (non-weather).* Occasionally exposed to wet, slippery or damp conditions.* Occasionally exposed to cleaning agents.* Quiet to moderate noise level.
