Status/Hours: Full-Time, 40 hrs per week
Reports to: Director of Conferences and Hospitality

Covenant has a beautiful 400-acre campus that stretches atop Lookout Mountain, Georgia, on the Georgia/Tennessee border, just outside of Chattanooga. The campus enjoys incredible vistas of the Smoky Mountains and the Cumberland Plateau with views that span across several states. The region is widely known as an outdoor recreational paradise for campers, boaters, cyclists, climbers, cavers, and hikers, all while being conveniently located within two hours of Atlanta, Nashville, and Knoxville.

SUMMARY

The Events Coordinator supports the planning and execution of campus events and summer conferences by overseeing event logistics, supervising student staff, and serving as an on-site lead during assigned events. This role ensures events are well-organized, properly staffed, and executed with a high standard of hospitality, professionalism, and operational excellence, contributing to Covenant College's mission and campus experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Oversee the setup, execution, and breakdown of assigned events, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.
• Serve as the on-site lead for events, including evenings and weekends as required.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues in real time during events.
• Ensure event spaces are properly prepared and aligned with established standards.
• Train, schedule, and supervise student event staff.
• Provide leadership and direction to student employees during event preparation and execution.
• Promote accountability, professionalism, and strong customer service among student staff.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and development of student employees.
• Coordinate event logistics with campus partners, including dining, facilities, athletics, and other departments.
• Communicate event details, updates, and requirements clearly to stakeholders.
• Support the Director of Conference & Hospitality in planning and executing events and summer conferences.
• Serve as a secondary point of contact for internal events and conference clients.
• Maintain accurate event records using event management systems.
• Assist with inventory management of event supplies and equipment.
• Support summer conference operations, including guest services and housing coordination.
• Provide support to other Business Operations areas during peak periods.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Conference & Hospitality to support the mission and operational needs of the College.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Combination of office, campus, and event environments, including indoor and outdoor settings.
• Regular use of computers, phones, event equipment, and standard office technology.
• Frequent evening and weekend work required based on event schedules and campus needs.
• Position requires regular movement across campus and active event participation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Active role requiring standing, walking, and frequent movement across campus.
• Ability to lift and move event materials and equipment up to 25-50 pounds.
• Regular use of hands for setting up events, operating equipment, and computer work.
• Frequent verbal communication with staff, students, and guests.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience in events, hospitality, customer service, or a related field.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead and supervise others effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.

Preferred:

• Experience supervising student employees.
• Experience in events, hospitality, customer service, or a related field
