Hospital Service Technician

The Hospital Service Technician manages and supports the flow of medical equipment throughout the hospital to ensure it is available, safe, and patient-ready when needed. This role focuses on high-quality service, reliability, and efficiency, while maintaining professional relationships with hospital staff and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver medical equipment to patient rooms and designated standby locations in patient-ready condition, including appropriate software, accessories, and disposables.
  • Pick up, clean, and process equipment according to established company and hospital protocols, preparing it for safe and timely patient use.
  • Use basic computer systems and handheld devices to receive and complete work orders, scan equipment, log inventory, and monitor the rotation and availability of beds and other devices.
  • Communicate confidently with clinical staff about equipment features, functionality, and proper use to support safe and effective patient care.
  • Provide consistently high-quality service that meets or exceeds defined quality standards, customer expectations, and company performance metrics.
  • Move throughout all departments and floors of the hospital to locate, deliver, and retrieve equipment as needed.
  • Handle, lift, and push equipment (up to 50 pounds) safely while following all relevant safety and infection control guidelines.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous improvement in service quality, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and responsive demeanor with hospital staff and any indirect patient interactions.
  • Support a 24/7 operation by working flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency off-hours as required.

Essential Skills

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with hospital staff.
  • Effective communication and people skills to interact confidently with clinical teams and indirect patient contacts.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate software, manage electronic work orders, and use handheld devices for scanning and data entry.
  • Ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time while moving throughout the hospital.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for extended periods as required by the role.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency off-hours to support a 24/7 schedule.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer service experience required.
  • Prior work experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Comfort working across all departments and floors of a hospital environment.
  • Attention to detail to ensure equipment is properly cleaned, processed, and prepared for patient-ready use.
  • Ability to follow detailed company and hospital protocols and quality standards.

Work Environment

This role is based within a hospital setting and involves regular movement across multiple departments and floors. The position is physically active, requiring frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and pushing equipment such as beds and devices. You will use basic computer systems and handheld scanning devices to manage work orders and track equipment. The schedule supports a 24/7 operation, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional emergency off-hours. Attire should be professional and appropriate for a clinical environment, with comfortable, closed-toe footwear suitable for extended periods of standing and walking.

This is a Contract position based out of Colton, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
