Job order - J0526-0430 - Permanent Full Time Title Genesis Parachute Modeling Engineer (ADV000CNX) Category Business Consulting & IT Strategy City Houston, Texas, United States Overview Genesis Parachute Modeling Engineer to support NASA’s Genesis Development and Analysis Team. The role focuses on developing and integrating advanced parachute system models for Orion, Commercial Crew, and future missions. Responsibilities Develop a state‑of‑the‑art multi‑body parachute system model for use on Orion and Commercial Crew programs. Integrate the parachute model into NASA’s Genesis flight‑mechanics simulation (Julia) and Trick‑based simulations (C++). Collaborate with parachute analysis subject‑matter experts to plan and reconstruct drop tests and spacecraft performance. Assist with simulation execution on the High‑Performance Computing (HPC) system. Perform verification and validation of flight‑mechanics models and simulations. Develop requirements documentation for models and simulations. Provide recommendations for design and software development improvements. Perform other duties as required. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 2‑5 years of related experience. Experience with 6‑DOF and multi‑body flight‑mechanics simulations. Software development experience in any language. Experience developing, verifying, and validating simulation models. Experience analyzing spacecraft performance. Familiarity with source‑code management tools such as Git/GitLab. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Team‑oriented with strong interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with limited supervision. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Desired Qualifications PhD in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on flight mechanics. Proficiency in Julia, C++, and Linux. Experience with software design. Benefits Competitive compensation.
