Base hours average 4–8 hours per week, with additional 1–2 hours for special projects. Retail Scan Associates visit selected stores each week to scan all product barcodes on displays and in aisle locations. The data is analyzed to improve sales performance. Part‑time Retail Scan Associates perform in‑store data collection at assigned retailers every week for 52 weeks a year, including holiday weeks. The role involves scanning barcodes in grocery, convenience, drug, pet, and mass merchandise stores, using a mobile app. Approximately 45% of scanned products require quantity reporting. Custom Projects may add 1–2 hours each week for certain stores.
