This acute-care community teaching hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services spanning general medicine and surgery, as well as a wide variety of specialties. The facility is part of an expansive psychiatric treatment, research, and academic network that includes world-renowned institutions and an experienced GME organization currently hosting two psychiatry residency programs and three psychiatry fellowship programs.

Physician - Psychiatry

Job Details:
  • Associate Medical Director role providing leadership and psychiatric services for adult, adolescent, and child clients on inpatient units and for partial hospitalization programs
  • Provide direct patient services including diagnostic admission evaluations, psychotherapy, and pharmacotherapy as appropriate
  • Work within a multidisciplinary treatment team and act as a clinical team leader for coordination and supervision of care across clinical disciplines
  • Provide guidance and leadership to other clinicians in formulating and implementing treatment plans
  • Complete timely documentation of assessments, clinical interventions, discharge summaries, and record updates in accordance with medical staff regulations
  • Monitor risk indicators and address risk management issues in a timely manner to ensure client, staff, and visitor safety
  • Adhere to safe and evidence-based prescribing practices, obtaining appropriate and informed consent prior to medication trials
  • Act as liaison and communicate effectively with outside providers, primary care physicians, schools, and family members as needed
  • Provide supervision to selected non-physician health professionals
  • Participate in Medical Staff Committees and meetings as specified in Medical Staff regulations
  • Provide oversight of psychiatric consult and liaison services for the local general hospital
  • Supervise clinical training in community psychiatry for fellows, residents, and students rotating through the site
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible psychiatrist required
  • State of CT Department of Public Health license, DEA, and CCSR required
  • Experience in adult, adolescent, or child inpatient and evaluation services with a multidisciplinary team treatment model preferred
  • Eligibility to apply for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program
