The Dean provides supports consistent with the district's vision, mission, and strategic goals, and assists with planning, developing, organizing, managing, and implementing all aspects of child welfare, residency and attendance, discipline procedures, law, specific grant‑funded programs, school security and safety, and SEL interventions and accommodations. The position collaborates with counselors, psychologists, social workers, and community partners to coordinate student interventions within the district's MTSS. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Collaborate with district staff and school administrators to implement research‑based interventions that maximize the academic and behavioral achievement of students. Collect, analyze, and interpret data and performance measures to improve delivery of SEL interventions. Diffuse difficult situations and seek additional support when necessary. Participate as an active member of the 504 Team to accommodate the unique needs of students. Assist teachers/teams in designing and implementing Tier II and Tier III SEL interventions. Participate on the building leadership team (SIT, liaisons, and administrative team meetings) to support the district's vision, mission, and goals. Respond quickly to emergency situations involving students and/or families. Assist the truancy officer with policy and procedural planning, organization, and coordination of district attendance/residency policies. Serve as a key member of the MTSS SEL implementation team and liaison with other building coordinators for a systemic approach to MTSS SEL implementation. Collaborate with counselors, psychologists, social workers, families, and community agencies to coordinate student supports, facilitate referrals, and strengthen implementation of the school's comprehensive MTSS and SEL framework. Assist with supervision during arrival, dismissal, lunches, hallways, and school events. Participate in extracurricular and co‑curricular supervision responsibilities as part of the building’s shared administrative duties. Support administration with coordinating lessons/activities across grade levels during the advisory block to build/maintain a positive school culture. Assist in the implementation of policies, regulations, guidelines, and procedures pertaining to student behavior expectations and attendance, and maintain appropriate documentation. Support administration with bus behavior referrals. Respond to inquiries or concerns in a timely manner. Handle parent complaints professionally and effectively. Serve as a complementary evaluator when needed. Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal or assistant principal. Job Requirements Desired Minimum Qualifications: Current Rhode Island teaching certificate in Secondary (6‑12) Master’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university (preferred) Administrator certification (preferred) Training or willingness to complete training in Safety Care, Multi‑tiered System of Supports, Restorative Practices, and/or Social Emotional Learning Participation in the RIDE Educator Evaluation required for the successful candidate At least 5 years of successful teaching experience at the high school level (preferred) Student‑centered and relationship‑driven Demonstrates fairness, consistency, and sound judgment Maintains a calm, solution‑oriented approach Highly collaborative and team‑oriented Understands the importance of balancing accountability with support Tools & Equipment Used: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher), Google Calendar, Google platform, SAMS and Aspen, and state assessment online testing software.
