Position OverviewThe Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as a Child Welfare Specialist . DCFS offers a competitive compensation plan, excellent benefits, and a pension program. Essential Functions- Serves as Independent Living/Transitional Living Monitor
- Works with ILO/TLP agencies to develop systems to address problematic issues
- Develops, maintains, and distributes to appropriate purchase of service (POS) and DCFS staff profiles of all ILO/TLP providers
- Prepares necessary documents for evaluating agency services
- Provides assistance in the scheduling and coordination of quarterly meetings to provide needed information and resources to providers
- Reviews CYCIS data to ensure accuracy of information regarding client living arrangements
- Organizes monthly ILO/TLP meetings
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
- Preferably requires a master's degree in social work;
OR
- A master's degree in a related human service field, supplemented by one year of directly related professional casework/case management experience;
OR
- Requires a bachelor's degree in social work and one year of directly related professional casework/case management experience;
OR
- Requires a bachelor's degree in a related human service field and two years of directly related professional casework/case management experience.
- The college or university issuing a bachelor's or master's degree must be accredited, and the degree program in social work must be approved by the Council on Social Work Education. The directly related professional casework/case management experience must be related to family preservation, family reunification, adoption, youth development, counseling, and advocacy services or a related field.
- This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.
- Requires travel, possession of a valid driver's license, daily access to an automobile, and proof of vehicle insurance.
- Requires ability to pass a background check.
- Requires physical, visual, and auditory ability to carry out assigned duties.
- Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non-State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non-State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine.
- This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.) requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission. (See Executive Order 15-09) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings.
