Library Associate

Overview The Library Associate II serves as a bridge between library administration and library users, ensuring that information about buildings and services is accurate, relevant, and user‑friendly. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Student Success and Scholarly Technology, the role involves outreach to the GW community and coordination of library services to create a positive experience for students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities Maintain current, accurate, and user‑friendly content on all LAI websites, including library.gwu.edu. Answer inquiries from the LAI community via email and other communication channels, and proactively provide information about LAI services through orientations and outreach activities. Liaise with LAI units to understand user needs, ensure quality and accessibility of LAI websites, and conduct regression and usability testing. Oversee LAI social media accounts, approve and monitor postings, and train other users on GW standards and best practices. Design, edit, and deliver internal communications such as newsletters to keep staff informed of policies and events. Ensure building and digital signage is accurate, updated, and meets user needs. Develop written and visual content for LAI internal newsletters, programs, InfoMails, website, presentations, and other print, digital, and social media deliverables. Coordinate workshop programs, including proposal review, scheduling, website updates, and support for presenters. Coordinate faculty outreach activities, including scheduling and reminders for outreach initiatives. Coordinate orientation activities in collaboration with university departments. Serve as on‑site contact for GW Events for events held in the Gelman Library, coordinate room scheduling, and ensure compliance with event policies and guidelines. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline, conferred by the start date (or equivalent education, training, and experience). Preferred Qualifications Meticulous attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines. Experience updating information on websites in a library or higher‑education setting. Proficiency with content management software and Google Workspace. Knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or willingness to learn. Experience with graphic design for library outreach activities. Experience using Drupal or another CMS and ability to train staff. Experience conducting usability testing with library website users. Hiring Range: $22.55 - $31.03 Location: Foggy Bottom Campus, Washington, D.C. Hours: 40 per week, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Work Status: Full‑Time, Essential Onsite, No Telework.
