Join us in shaping the future of architecture and design in the Southeast!We are currently seeking a Specifications Writer to join one of our 12 offices. The Specifications Writer is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining the written technical requirements that complement the drawings and define materials, products, systems, and quality standards for construction. This role works closely with project teams to align specifications with design intent, code requirements, project delivery methods, and owner expectations, helping ensure clarity, consistency, and quality throughout the documentation process.A Day in the Life:Develop, edit, and coordinate project specifications for a wide range of project types, scales, and delivery methodsCollaborate closely with project architects, designers, and technical staff to align specifications with design intent, drawing content, code requirements, and owner expectationsAdvise teams on material selections, product applications, and building systems to support constructability, quality, and project goalsTailor specifications to project scope, procurement approach, and delivery method while maintaining consistency across contract documentsMaintain and improve in-house master specifications, product information, and technical standards to support firmwide quality and efficiencyWork both independently and collaboratively to deliver accurate, coordinated, and high-quality specification documentation on scheduleWork directly with the Specifications Leader and Team to continuously improve processes in the department as a firmwide resource.Your Strengths as a Specifications Writer:Knowledge of the CSI (Construction Specifications Institute) Masterformat standard for specification documents organizationProficiency with specification-writing platforms, with the ability to efficiently develop, edit, and manage project specifications. Experience with RIB SpecLink is highly preferred.Working knowledge of SpecsIntact is desired.Strong understanding of building materials, products, assemblies, and construction documentation practicesAbility to work independently, exercise sound technical judgment, and respond effectively to project challenges and deadlinesExcellent coordination, communication, and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detailWhat You Bring to the Table:Bachelor's degree or associate degree in architecture, construction management, engineering, interior design, or a related design or construction field is preferred5–7 years of experience preparing, coordinating, and managing architectural specifications for construction documentsDemonstrated knowledge of building products, material assemblies, and construction documentation standardsProfessional experience in an architectural, engineering, or construction environment is strongly preferredCertification in CSI's CDT (Construction Documents Technologist) is ideally preferred.A cover letter and resume are required.Life at LS3PTogether, we are building the skylines of the Southeast.Our values articulate our beliefs and ground us in a common culture.
