Senior Estimator - Commercial Construction


A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead the preparation of accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for developing budgets, evaluating project risks, managing bid efforts, and supporting successful project pursuits from preconstruction through contract award.


The ideal candidate has extensive commercial estimating experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with owners, architects, subcontractors, and project teams.


Responsibilities

• Prepare conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and competitive bid proposals
• Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze labor, material, and equipment costs
• Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals
• Develop value engineering recommendations and cost-saving alternatives
• Identify project risks and recommend mitigation strategies
• Collaborate with project managers, operations, and business development teams during project pursuits
• Participate in preconstruction meetings, bid reviews, and owner presentations
• Maintain current knowledge of market pricing, labor trends, and material costs
• Mentor junior estimators and support continuous process improvement

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial construction estimating experience
• Experience estimating ground-up commercial projects valued at $10M+
• Strong understanding of conceptual estimating, budgeting, and value engineering
• Experience with negotiated, design-build, CMAR, and hard-bid projects
• Proficiency with estimating software, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and construction management technology
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred

Compensation and Benefits


Salary Range: $130,000-$170,000 per year
