Lead Application Administrator, Public Safety Applications This position directly supports the technology needs of Brown University’s Department of Public Safety, a sworn, fully-functioning law enforcement agency operating 24/7 to protect and serve the Brown community. The Lead Application Administrator within the OIT Public Safety Applications team will serve as a senior position supporting all of the Public Safety applications, including but not limited to Brown's access control system CCure 9000 , video security Genetec , Zetron Communication Solution, Dispatch & Records Management (currently IMC), NICE 911 Voice & Radio Recording Suite, and the RILETS (Rhode Island Law Enforcement Telecommunications System). Responsibilities Application administration, end‑user application support, and end‑user application training for all Public Safety applications. Develop and maintain a fundamental understanding of how to utilize all Public Safety applications from an end‑user perspective. Operational excellence by managing a structured Kanban‑based workflow to prioritize team activities. Lead the Technical Documentation Lifecycle, including writing and maintaining documentation for cross‑training the team. Lead peer training efforts and partner with stakeholders to develop functional test plans for application upgrades and regression testing. Participate in and support all upgrades, application and security patches, testing, documentation, training, and change‑management activities. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (preferred). 5+ years of experience with enterprise‑level business application support or administration. 1–2 years in a lead, supervisory, or senior‑level role with mentorship responsibilities. Experience developing and leading end‑user training and documentation (technical and non‑technical). Experience developing and leading peer training and technical documentation. Preferred: Administration of Public Safety or Enterprise Applications & Systems. Preferred: Security Systems Application Administration. Preferred: SQL Queries, including writing queries and joining databases. Preferred: SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services); writing reports & supporting SSRS. Preferred: Active Directory Security Group Administration. Preferred: Group Policy Administration. Preferred: Experience managing workloads via Agile, Kanban, or Lean methodologies. Preferred application support or administration experience with CCURE9000, Genetec Security Center VMS, Central Square IMC, NICE 911 Recording Suite, Zetron Communication Solution, SQL Server Reporting Services, Wowza Media Service & TheoPlayer Cloud. Preferred certifications: CCURE9000 Certified, Genetec Security Center Certified. Experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office applications (required). Higher education experience preferred. Successful completion of a criminal background check and education verifications is required. CJIS background check is required. Job Competencies Strong application support/administration abilities to troubleshoot, support, and maintain critical application suites/software components for a 24x7 operation. Ability to see how individual applications integrate into the larger university ecosystem. Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and project‑planning skills. Ability to manage lightweight projects through to completion without direct supervision. Working knowledge of databases and SQL queries. Troubleshooting skills for problem resolution. Knowledge of TCP/IP networking. Knowledge of IT change‑management processes. Excellent customer service skills and commitment to customer service. Ability to bridge the gap between deep‑tech configurations and user‑friendly documentation. Strong computing, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a group and as a member of a project team. Excellent coordination, collaboration, writing, and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities. Ability to work through problems and find solutions.
