We continue to pursue growth opportunities evidenced by opening more branch offices throughout the Southeast region.Position PurposeThe Project Engineer position requires increasing responsibility as an engineer. In addition to responsibilities assigned to the Design Engineer, the Project Engineer is expected to assemble individual task assignments into complete plan sets and reports. This position is expected to assign tasks to a new Design Engineer, and exhibit the ability to mentor, train, teach and check a Design Engineers work. Primary assignments for this position will be performed under the supervision of a Professional Engineer and will be project assignments, instead of individual tasks when applicable.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms all duties of Design EngineerPrepares reports outlining opinions, and recommendations for the approval of a Project Manager concerning the production of the projectResearch project requirements including federal, state, and local codes and ordinancesProficient in Civil3d for site design including roadways, lotting, grading, drainage and utility designPrepares design plan sets for construction, implementing design objectives set forth by the Project ManagerCollaborates with other consultants for project coordinationCoordinates plan submittals and approvals with jurisdictional authoritiesMay act as technical advisor to design engineers assigned to the project, as determined by the Project ManagerMay be assigned to manage small projectsConfers with management on all major project decisions such as client contact, design, construction cost, and scheduleResolve day-to-day problems, mostly of a technical natureMay be asked to travel to out of town assignmentsWork alongside functional departments to fulfill corporate needs.Additional Duties and ResponsibilitiesRepresents LBYD at Public HearingsAssist with client coordinationMinimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Civil EngineeringMinimum of 2 years of design related experienceSkills and AbilitiesProven success within the Design Engineer roleDemonstrated proficiency with LBYD's design softwareShown ability and aptitude to complete tasks working with multiple managersUnderstands the tasks required to complete the production of a plan setAbility to produce and assemble a complete set of drawings that follow LBYD and industry drawing standards resulting in a complete and coherent plan setThorough understanding of the project process and has working knowledge of most aspects of LBYD's civil engineering designDemonstrated ability to communicate with internal design teams and external stakeholdersPhysical Demands: Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
