The role involves delivering coordinated nursing care for patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. The position includes supervising and directing the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff. Collaboration with other disciplines is essential while utilizing critical thinking, professional discretion, and independent judgment. Key responsibilities include collecting relevant data regarding patient health, analyzing assessment data to determine diagnoses, and developing care plans with prescribed interventions. The role requires implementing those plans, coordinating care delivery, and employing strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Ongoing evaluation of patient progress toward outcomes is a crucial responsibility. Collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare providers in providing care in a safe, healing environment is expected. The position includes providing learning opportunities for patients and family members. Direct communication of health information to patients, families, and the treatment team is required. Participation in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care is essential. Delegation and coordination of duties among healthcare team members will be part of the role.
