Job Summary:
A registered nurse (RN) specializing in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) care is sought to join an advanced pediatric medical and surgical center in Madison, Wisconsin. This position involves working in a state-of-the-art 21-bed unit providing family-centered care to critically ill or injured children, including those with complex medical and surgical conditions such as cardiac anomalies, neurocritical disorders, ECMO, and organ transplantation. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.

Job Details:

• Location: Madison, Wisconsin
• Position: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse
• Shift: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts, from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with every other weekend and some holidays required.
• Required Qualifications: 3 years of experience in a high acuity hospital; strong Pediatric ICU experience; at least 1 year of cardiovascular (CV) experience; two years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty; WI RN or compact RN license; AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications; EMR proficiency in Epic; pass Telemetry test prior to start.
• Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level II experience; Trauma Level I experience is a plus.
• Certifications: BLS, PALS, WI RN or compact RN license.
• Skills and Responsibilities: Monitoring End-Tidal Carbon Dioxide (CO2), managing Ports, administering blood products, anti-seizure and anti-arrhythmic medications, arterial line management, intubation management, BIPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, central line and PICC line care, ECMO, Peritoneal Dialysis, TPN/Lipids, wound assessment, and more.
• Patient Ratios: 1:2 or 1:1 as appropriate.
• Unit Details: Serving neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatrics with an average census of 18 patients per day, including complex cases such as neuro/neurological disorders, cardiac issues, organ transplant, and trauma.
• Additional Information: Must have previous charge nurse experience. Certifications in BLS and PALS are required, along with vaccination for influenza.
