Occupational Therapist - Travel Contract

Make a meaningful difference as a travel Occupational Therapist in Hiawatha, IA. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to provide coordinated, patient-centered care in a home health setting. The clinician will evaluate occupational performance across self-care, work, leisure, and rest; develop and implement individualized plans of care; teach adaptive techniques and equipment use; fabricate basic adaptive devices and splints; and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to document progress and support safe, functional independence.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program with a Bachelor of Science, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Current state license as an Occupational Therapist required prior to the start of assignment.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and vehicle insurance required.
• Minimum two years of experience as an Occupational Therapist in an acute care or rehabilitation setting required.
• Ability to perform physical job requirements including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, prolonged standing and walking.
• Ability to travel locally and work a flexible schedule as required by home health visits.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience fabricating and maintaining adaptive equipment and hand splints preferred.
• Experience working in home health or community-based settings preferred.

Assignment Details

• Shift: Days, 5x8 schedule.
• Must be able to travel locally between patient homes.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet patient needs, including occasional extended hours as required.

Impacting Patient Care

The Occupational Therapist will perform clinical assessments, prepare and revise Plans of Care, document progress and orders, implement therapeutic interventions to improve ROM, strength, coordination, functional mobility and safety, and apply infection control practices. The clinician will communicate with physicians and caregivers while maintaining confidentiality and support compliance with payer requirements through documentation and patient education.
