Advanced Practice ProviderUT MD Anderson is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to support Lymphoma-Myeloma. The Advanced Practice Provider delivers comprehensive clinical care in an outpatient and inpatient setting, partnering closely with attending physicians to manage patients across the continuum of care. The Advanced Practice Provider role provides meaningful patient interaction, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and exposure to advanced oncology practices.Responsibilities:Clinical Patient CareProvide quality patient care aligned with diagnosis, treatment plan, age group, development, and identified needsPerform outpatient clinical duties including preliminary assessments of new and follow-up patientsEvaluate clinic and Emergency Center "drop-in" patientsConduct physical examinations and assess patient eligibility as neededAssume responsibility for clinic patients during physician absence or reassignmentDocumentation & OrdersDictate clinic progress notes for follow-up patients and consultation notes for new consultsDictate PMEs for new patientsWrite admission notes and orders for hospitalized patientsWrite outpatient orders including chemotherapy, IV fluids, transfusions, and growth factorsDocument patient information and clinical findings for physician reviewCare Coordination & SupportAssist with clinic-related paperwork including x-ray requests, scheduling, prescriptions, and chemotherapy ordersCoordinate biopsies, consultations, and retrieval of lab, x-ray, and pathology reportsContact consulting physicians and support interdisciplinary communicationScreen patient phone calls and escalate to physician when appropriateInpatient & Cross Coverage SupportAssist physician with inpatient care as neededWork with alternate physician during assigned physician absenceAttend department meetings related to patient careSupport physician-directed activities during non-clinic hoursAdditional DutiesScreen patients for eligibility and assist in preparation of chemotherapy orders during non-clinic hoursObtain charts and imaging for clinical analysisPerform bone marrow aspiration proceduresComplete additional patient care and administrative duties as assigned by Medical Director or attending physicianAPRN or Physician AssistantEDUCATION: Required: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice. May be waived for applicants who obtained recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Texas State Board of Nursing prior to 1/1/2003. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.Physician Assistant Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), except for Physician Assistants who graduated from a PA program prior to 2013.EXPERIENCE: Preferred: At least 1 year of Oncology experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION: Required: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse All of the following: Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN or ACNP or ACNPC or ACAGNP or AGACNP or ACNPC-AG or AGACNP or AGNP or ACPNP or ANP or AGNP or AGPCNP or FNP or GNP or PNP or PMHNP or WHNP or APNP). Related authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. Basic Life Support (BLS). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) If working in the following departments: Pediatric - Patient Care (113100). MAY BE REQUIRED: Authorization for limited prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing.Physician Assistant All of the following: PA certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners. MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas.
