A leading steel fabrication company specializing in custom stair systems is seeking a driven Project Manager to oversee projects from kickoff through fabrication and delivery. Position Summary


The Project Manager will take full ownership of multiple steel fabrication projects, acting as the central point of coordination between clients, engineering, detailing, shop production, and logistics teams.


This is a hands-on, execution-focused role where success depends on your ability to manage timelines, control budgets, drive communication, and ensure fabrication aligns with contract documents and client expectations. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of steel fabrication, is comfortable reading drawings, and thrives in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Project Ownership & Execution:
o Manage multiple projects simultaneously from award through fabrication and delivery.
o Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring alignment with production timelines and client expectations.
o Track progress and proactively address risks that could impact delivery or cost.
• Client & Stakeholder Management:
o Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, and contractors.
o Lead communication across all stakeholders to ensure clarity, alignment, and responsiveness.
o Manage expectations and resolve issues in real time.
• Engineering & Detailing Coordination:
o Collaborate with internal detailers and design teams to ensure drawings meet project requirements.
o Review shop drawings, submittals, and revisions for accuracy and constructability.
o Ensure all fabrication aligns with contract documents and specifications.
• Fabrication & Shop Coordination:
o Work closely with shop supervisors and production teams to align schedules and priorities.
o Understand fabrication workflows and ensure projects are released to production accurately and on time.
o Support resolution of shop-level challenges or discrepancies.
• Documentation & Project Controls:
o Manage RFIs, RFQs, CORs, and other project documentation using PM software.
o Track budgets, schedules of values, and change orders to maintain financial control.
o Maintain organized project files and ensure documentation accuracy.
• Logistics & Delivery Coordination:
o Coordinate with shipping and receiving teams to ensure timely delivery of finished products.
o Align project timelines with transportation and site readiness.

Qualifications
• 3-7+ years of Project Management experience in steel fabrication, construction, or related industries
• Strong understanding of structural and miscellaneous steel (stairs, railings, platforms, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, architectural drawings, and contract documents
• Experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with project management software and construction documentation workflows
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to manage schedules, budgets, and project deliverables

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working specifically with stair systems or architectural metals
• Background in fabrication environments (not just office-based PMs)
• Knowledge of welding, fabrication processes, and shop workflows
• Experience working with general contractors or commercial construction projects
