Key Responsibilities

• Direct physical therapy treatment aimed at preventing disabilities, relieving pain, and improving overall physical function.
• Evaluate and assess patients' levels of function using a variety of diagnostic and prognostic tests related to muscle, nerve, and joint capabilities.
• Develop personalized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and their families, ensuring alignment with physicians' prescriptions.
• Supervise and provide guidance to physical therapy assistants, assuring that they deliver services effectively and in accordance with established plans of care.
• Conduct thorough evaluations of the home and rehabilitation environments, making recommendations that enhance patient independence.
• Administer therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, and physical agents such as traction and massage.
• Monitor patient progress, document findings, and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans based on clinical observations and feedback.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, discussing patient care strategies and contributing to overall treatment evaluations.
• Educate patients and their families on effective use and care of therapy-related devices and comprehensive rehabilitation protocols.
• Complete clinical records, including initial evaluations, OASIS documentation, care plans, and progress notes, adhering to regulatory and organizational guidelines.
• Ensure timely submission of all documentation as per branch policy.
• Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and governing agency regulations impacting patient care and therapy practices.

Qualifications

• A Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) with active licensure in the state of Virginia.
