Certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) via NBRC, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), PALS, STABLE Certification

Must-Have: ER, ICU, and inpatient adult experience required; pediatric experience preferred

Description:
Unit has a total of 127 inpatient beds.
Typically, the department staffs 7 respiratory therapists during the day and 5 at night.
Therapists may perform as many as 40-70 treatments per day.
The unit primarily serves adult patients but also includes a pediatric inpatient unit and a family birthing unit.
Responsibilities cover all inpatient areas, including the emergency department.
Therapists may be involved in outpatient EKGs and bronchoscopy procedures.
They may initiate CPAP on infants as needed.
Travelers are not required to cover the sleep lab, pulmonary, or cardiac rehab areas.
Job duties include administering breathing treatments, managing ventilators, drawing and analyzing arterial blood gases, and performing EKGs.
Core respiratory therapists can place arterial lines and cover EKGs for the areas they service with respiratory treatments.
Therapists may manage up to 8-9 ventilators in the ICU simultaneously.
Shifts are set, and the manager schedules 4 weeks in advance.
Every other weekend work is required.
Travelers are not required to do critical care transport outside the facility.
Assistance is provided during intubations, but independent intubation is not required.
A lead therapist or supervisor is always available for questions.
There are no call or standby call requirements.
The department uses various respiratory equipment brands, including Puritan Bennett, Hamilton, and Vapotherm.
An open ICU is maintained, with hospitalists and pulmonologists available 24/7.
Skill assessments will be conducted on-site to facilitate appropriate assignments.
The cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per 13-week contract.
The charting system used is Expanse - hCare.
Professional appearance is expected, with no long nails and clean-shaven for men.
