Fire Protection Inspector $80,000 - $95,000 per year | Portland, OR | On-site | Permanent Job Overview We are a growing provider of fire and life safety services supporting commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities in the region. We are seeking a dedicated Fire Protection Inspector to join our engineering team in a permanent, on‑site role. The candidate will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting fire protection systems and ensuring compliance with applicable safety standards and regulations. Responsibilities Conduct regular inspections and testing of fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems to ensure proper operation and regulatory compliance. Perform preventative maintenance on fire protection systems to prevent malfunctions and extend system reliability. Inspect and maintain life safety systems and backflow prevention devices to ensure effective operation. Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation of all inspection and maintenance activities. Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries and provide excellent customer service. Troubleshoot and diagnose system faults, performing necessary repairs or replacements. Travel to various sites to perform field service inspections, maintenance, and repairs. Conduct safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and take immediate action to eliminate them. Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to fire protection and safety. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role. Level 2 NICET certification. Proven experience with fire sprinkler and alarm systems, inspection and testing, preventative maintenance, life safety systems, backflow prevention, technical documentation, customer service, troubleshooting, field service, system diagnostics, and safety inspections. Excellent technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues promptly. Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time effectively and prioritizing workload to meet deadlines. Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to identify hazards and take appropriate action. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various sites as required.
