Associate Attorney – Workers' Compensation Defense

Location: Santa Clarita or Cypress, CA
Hybrid/Remote Flexibility Available After Training Period

Our growing California litigation firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our collaborative and supportive Workers' Compensation Defense practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney seeking meaningful litigation experience, strong mentorship, long-term career stability, and a healthy work-life balance.

Prior workers' compensation experience is welcomed, but the firm is also open to training motivated attorneys from other litigation backgrounds, including insurance defense, personal injury, employment, or civil litigation.

This position is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, wants hands-on litigation experience early in their career, and values working in a stable, recession-resistant practice area with strong long-term growth potential.

What You'll Do:
• Handle substantive litigation work and day-to-day case management
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and correspondence
• Prepare and respond to discovery
• Take and defend depositions
• Communicate directly with clients, insureds, opposing counsel, and carriers
• Work closely with senior attorneys and partners on active litigation matters

Qualifications:
• JD from an accredited law school
• Active California Bar admission or currently awaiting bar results
• Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills
• Litigation experience preferred, but not required
• Motivated, hardworking, and eager to develop litigation skills

Compensation & Benefits:
• Base salary: $100,000 – $120,000+ depending on experience
• Incremental salary increases tied to productivity
• Bonus structure:
– $40/hour for billing above 225 hours/month
– $50/hour for billing above 250 hours/month
• Additional bonuses for new client generation and file referrals

• 2 weeks PTO plus sick time
• Dedicated support staff including legal assistants, paralegals, and medical-legal clerks
• Private office provided for attorneys

Schedule:
Full-time | Monday – Friday

Location:
Santa Clarita or Cypress, CA
Potential hybrid/remote flexibility after onboarding and training period.

Working Conditions:

• May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as from office equipment.
• The ability to lift up to 30lbs.
• Use of computers and technology.
