About the Role:

SiSTEM is hiring experienced foreign language tutors to work with motivated students and families in the Houston area.

This is not a volume tutoring gig. Our tutors work as trusted academic partners with families who value expertise, helping students build real fluency, stronger communication skills, and confidence in their target language at every level.

Spanish:

• Elementary Spanish introduction and vocabulary.
• Middle school Spanish I.

• Honors and Pre-AP Spanish.
• AP Spanish Language and Culture.
• AP Spanish Literature and Culture.
• IB Spanish.
• Dual Credit College Spanish.
• Native/heritage speaker development.

French:

• Elementary French introduction and vocabulary.
• Middle school French I.
• High school French I, II, III, and IV.
• Honors and Pre-AP French.
• AP French Language and Culture.
• IB French.
• Dual Credit College French.

Mandarin Chinese:

• Elementary Mandarin introduction.
• Middle school Mandarin I.
• High school Mandarin I, II, III, and IV.
• Honors Mandarin.
• AP Chinese Language and Culture.
• IB Chinese.
• Character reading and writing.

German:

• High school German I, II, III, and IV.
• Honors German.

• Middle school Latin introduction.

• National Latin Exam preparation.

Japanese:

• High school Japanese I, II, III, and IV.
• Honors Japanese.
• AP Japanese Language and Culture.
• IB Japanese.

Italian:

• High school Italian I, II, III, and IV.
• AP Italian Language and Culture.

Arabic:

• Elementary through high school Arabic instruction.
• Heritage speaker development.
• Modern Standard Arabic and conversational Arabic.

Other Languages:

• Korean.
• Portuguese.
• Hindi.
• American Sign Language (ASL).
• Any other language with academic or personal demand.

Test Prep Language Sections:

• SAT Subject-Related Language Questions.
• AP Language and Culture Exams (all languages listed above).
• CLEP Foreign Language Exams.
• DELE (Spanish proficiency certification).
• DELF / DALF (French proficiency certification).
• HSK (Chinese proficiency certification).
• National language exam competitions (National Spanish Exam, National French Contest, National Latin Exam, etc.).

Specialized Language Support:

• Heritage and native speaker academic development.
• Conversational fluency and speaking confidence.
• Reading and writing literacy in the target language.
• Dual language and bilingual program support.
• Language selection guidance for students choosing their first foreign language.

You do not need to tutor every language or every level. If you specialize in Spanish I only, or AP French only, or Mandarin for beginners only, or conversational Arabic only, or anything in between, we want you on our team.

About SiSTEM:

SiSTEM is an academic guidance platform that builds personalized roadmaps for students in grades K–12. Every student on SiSTEM has a plan. Tutors are a key part of that plan and are matched to students based on specific needs, not random availability.

We started as a tutoring agency in Texas, grew to 300+ tutors serving 10,000+ students, and are now launching a platform that gives educators better tools, better-matched students, and the ability to build a real client base.

What You'll Do:

• Work one-on-one with students in grades K–12 to provide focused foreign language instruction at their level.
• Help students develop real comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing skills, not just memorize vocabulary lists.
• Build conversational confidence, grammatical accuracy, and cultural understanding.
• Make the language feel accessible and engaging for students who are struggling or just getting started.
• Identify and close gaps in foundational language skills that are holding students back.
• Align your sessions with each student's broader academic roadmap through SiSTEM's planning tools.
• Communicate with families on progress and strategy when appropriate.
• Maintain high standards of preparation and professionalism.

What We're Looking For:

We are selective about who joins the SiSTEM team.

Strong candidates typically have:

• 3+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring experience in at least one foreign language.
• Native or near-native fluency in the language you teach.
• Deep expertise in at least one of the language levels listed above.
• Experience working with motivated students who are in honors, Pre-AP, AP, IB, or dual credit language courses.
• A track record of helping students improve their grades, build fluency, or gain confidence in speaking and writing.
• Clear, patient communication and the ability to make language learning feel natural rather than intimidating.
• Professional reliability.

Bonus: current or former foreign language teachers, native speakers with teaching credentials or formal tutoring experience, educators with degrees in linguistics, language education, or a specific language, tutors with experience coaching students for AP Language and Culture exams, National Language Exam competitors, or proficiency certifications (DELE, DELF, HSK, etc.).
