Faculty Position in the Headache Division

The Department of Neurology at our organization is on the lookout for a faculty member to join the Headache Division. This role will involve working as a clinician or clinician-scientist within the Headache program, guided by Dr. Page B. Pennell, the Chair of Neurology, and Dr. Robert Kaniecki, the Chief of the Headache Division. Candidates must possess an MD or DO degree and have completed a fellowship in Headache Medicine. Additionally, applicants should be board certified or eligible in both Neurology and Headache Medicine, with the capability to secure an unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license.

Opportunity Highlights

• Join a dynamic Headache Division that includes 5 adult and 1 pediatric headache board-certified physicians, along with 3 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and 1-2 fellows annually.
• Engage in collaborative efforts with specialists in neuroophthalmology, neurovestibular medicine, psychiatry, and neurosurgery, as well as clinicians from the esteemed UPMC Concussion program.
• Utilize available foundational funds for clinical research if interested.

About the Department of Neurology and Headache Division

Founded in 2000, our Headache Center has become a leading facility for national and regional referrals and consultations, recognized as one of the busiest clinical operations in the United States. In 2019, we completed an expansion and renovation of the Headache Center, enhancing patient-centered features such as lighting and sound in waiting and examination areas.

Research funding for various studies, including clinical, basic, data science, and translational research, has consistently increased, with over $25 million in research support received in FY25. The Department of Neurology has also been awarded the NINDS UE5 grant to facilitate research training for residents and fellows through the "Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Neuropathology Pittsburgh Research Education Plan (N3-PREP)" and is part of the NINDS Network for Excellence in Neuroscience Clinical Trials (NeuroNEXT).
