Position: School Psychologist

Reports To: Executive Director of Exceptional Children

Salary: Based on certified state salary schedule + local supplement

Status: Ten month position

Qualifications:

1. School psychology degree (M.A., Ed.S., CAS, Psy.D, or Ph.D.) from an approved NASP, APA or NCATE program

Responsibilities:

1. Assessment: Collect information about the learning, development, and adjustment characteristics of referred students, and identify environmental factors likely to affect learning. Document assessment results in a comprehensive and clearly written report, communicate and interpret results with appropriate professionals, and apply assessment data toward the development of effective interventions and programs.

2. Interventions: Provide direct intervention with students designed to facilitate the learning process, promote social and emotional development, and increase behavioral self-control. Respond to crisis situations in collaboration with colleagues and community personnel.

3. Consultation and Training: Provide consultation to parents, teachers, and other school personnel concerning the educational environment and factors affecting students' learning; serve as a resource at the school level as part of the Student Assistance Program; assist with the development and provision of in-service programs.

4. Professional Practice: Demonstrate effective communication and relationship skills; adheres to professional school psychology code of ethics; liaison with the community including the referral of students and their families to appropriate agencies for medical, vocational, or social services.
