It gives every finance team, department and service line in a health system its own set of AI agents that run around the clock, understand the organization's specific data, business logic and workflows, and move finance teams off spreadsheets and disconnected legacy tools. The Role

This role sits between a customer's financial and clinical data and the AI systems that run on top of it. You will reverse-engineer each customer's business rules, from payer contract logic to chart-of-accounts idiosyncrasies, and build the transformations that map raw customer data into Translucent's unified ontology and semantic layer. Analytics engineering is the source of truth the entire platform runs on. If the data is not right, there is no AI and no trust.

You will thrive here if you know healthcare data well enough to spot a wrong number before anyone else does.

What You Will Do

• Review customer data models. Work directly with finance and clinical teams, sometimes on site, to capture their source-of-truth logic firsthand.
• Codify business rules. Turn under-documented payer contract and chart-of-accounts logic into durable, tested transformations.
• Build in SQL. Map customer data into the unified ontology and semantic layer inside a managed pipeline.
• Own correctness. Set and hold the testing and validation bar on everything you ship.
• Expand the ontology. Partner with insights and product engineering as new customer needs and data sources come in.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering
• Strong SQL, plus working proficiency in Python
• Experience with data transformation tools and modern data pipelines
• Deep familiarity with healthcare financial and clinical data, such as payer contract logic and chart-of-accounts structures
• Comfort working directly with customer finance and clinical stakeholders, including occasional on-site visits
• Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship (US citizen or Green Card holder). An H-1B transfer may be considered for an exceptional candidate.

Team and Culture

The engineering team is small, senior and deliberately kept that way. It runs on a flat, democratic structure with a documentation-driven culture, RFC-style workflows, and decisions made by gathering input rather than handed down from the top. Development is heavily AI-assisted, with strong human judgment layered on top. The team is led by a former YC founder and CTO. The company and its market are evolving quickly, so this role suits people who are comfortable with rapid change and expect their role to look different in six months.
