Co-Instructor Pool - Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and the Future Workplace - UC Berkeley Extension Position Overview Position title: Instructor (Non-Senate, Non-Tenure Track) Salary range: $500 to $2,100 total per course Percent time: Part-time by agreement Anticipated start: Fall semester or as course needs arise Review timeline: Appointments as needs arise; applicant pool remains 9–12 months Position duration: Course length 8–9 weeks; 1–3 class meetings per term Course Computing, Data Science, and the Future Workplace – an in‑person course scheduled Monday‑Thursday 5–7 pm Pacific Time on the UC Berkeley campus. Course Subjects Application of Data Science and AI in the Workplace Data Science Employment Opportunities AI Data Strategy & Optimization AI Societal & Workforce Impact AI‑Driven Software Development Thriving in an AI‑Augmented Workplace AI Ethics, Risk, & Governance Other Artificial Intelligence Course or Subject Areas (specify in cover letter) General Duties Develop course syllabus, assignments, lesson plans, and deliver lectures, presentations, and learning activities for all scheduled class meetings. Participate in required trainings as mandated by UC Presidential policies. Use University‑approved course support platforms (Canvas, Instructor Portal, Google Workspace, etc.). Review and follow university and departmental policies, logistics, and guidelines on the Instructional Resource Site. Respond to program or department requests in a timely manner. Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application) Bachelor's degree or equivalent international degree. Additional qualifications (required at start) 5+ years professional industry experience since degree. Ability to commute to Berkeley, California, for 1–3 class meetings per semester (Monday‑Thursday, 5–7 pm). Preferred qualifications Advanced degree in course subject. 5+ years experience in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or managing AI product teams. Teaching, training, or coaching experience in a U.S. corporate or academic environment. Commitment to inclusive curriculum, classroom environment, and pedagogy. Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills (English). Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
