Position Summary

The Driven Group, LLC is seeking a dependable, organized, and experienced School Bus Dispatcher to support our daily student transportation operations. The School Bus Dispatcher plays a critical role in ensuring drivers, bus attendants, vehicles, and routes operate safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple situations simultaneously, solve problems quickly, and maintain professional communication with drivers, attendants, management, schools, transportation officials, and parents when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor daily AM and PM school bus and van routes.

• Dispatch drivers and bus attendants to their assigned routes and vehicles.

• Monitor employee call-outs, lateness, absences, and route coverage.

• Arrange substitute drivers, attendants, and vehicles when necessary to prevent service interruptions.

• Maintain consistent radio communication with drivers and attendants throughout daily operations.

• Monitor route progress, delays, vehicle locations, and other transportation concerns.

• Communicate route delays, breakdowns, accidents, student-related concerns, and other operational issues to management promptly.

• Coordinate with the Operations and Fleet/Maintenance teams regarding vehicle breakdowns, substitutions, and vehicles placed out of service.

• Assist drivers with route directions, student transportation information, and operational questions.

• Document incidents, delays, missed stops, breakdowns, call-outs, route changes, and other significant events.

• Maintain accurate daily dispatch logs and transportation records.

• Ensure drivers and attendants follow company safety procedures, communication protocols, and transportation policies.

• Assist with emergency situations and follow established accident, breakdown, and incident-reporting procedures.

• Maintain confidentiality regarding student, employee, route, and company information.

• Perform additional transportation and administrative duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Previous school bus, transportation, logistics, dispatch, or operations experience preferred .

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to remain professional and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.

• Comfortable communicating by two-way radio, telephone, email, and transportation software.

• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and electronic recordkeeping systems.

• Strong attendance and punctuality are essential.

• Knowledge of school transportation operations and safety procedures is preferred.

• Must be able to work early mornings and afternoon transportation hours as required.
