This role will report to Sr. Director, Controls Engineering and based in San Jose, CAThis is a fully on-site, in office role.Job DescriptionThe Staff Controls Test Engineer will be responsible for validating controls software to ensure functionality, reliability, and readiness for deployment. This role focuses on structured testing, automation, and system-level validation across development, FIT, and field environments.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute test plans for controls features and system behaviorValidate controls code prior to release to integration, FIT, and fieldBuild and maintain automated test frameworks and test benchesReplicate real-world operating scenarios and edge cases for robust validationIdentify, debug, and track defects through resolutionPartner with controls engineers to improve test coverage and design for testabilitySupport regression testing and release readiness reviewsAnalyze field issues and feed learnings back into test strategiesQualifications5+ years in test, controls, or systems engineeringExperience with controls systems and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testingStrong debugging and root cause analysis skillsFamiliarity with test automation, scripting, and data analysisHands-on experience with hardware setups and instrumentationImpactImproves software quality and release confidenceReduces field issues and reworkAccelerates validation cycles and deployment readinessAbout Bloom Energy:At Bloom Energy, we strive toward a 100% renewable future.
