Indirect Tax Manager | Columbus, OH | Remote | Fulltime

General Purpose


We are seeking an experienced Indirect Tax Manager responsible for overseeing and managing all indirect tax compliance and audits, including sales and use tax as well as limited VAT issues. The Indirect Tax Manager should be well-versed in employing data analytics tools and leveraging tax technology solutions to drive efficiency and insight. This role ensures compliance with tax regulations, optimizes tax technology and processes, leads the support team that manages supporting documentation, provides technical analysis, and manages audit defense.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Manage and develop a compliance group of 6-8 members (U.S. and India staff)


File and review sales and use tax returns for all state jurisdictions


Resolve notices and guide staff in resolving notices


Serve as an account manager for multiple clients across all industry types


Assist in organizing and completing special projects for clients (name changes, account closures, back-filings, account reconciling, etc.)


Collaborate with the compliance department managers to direct and improve efficiencies/processes/performance of the department

Job Qualifications


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)


Excellent written and oral communication skills


Familiarity with pulling and manipulating from various software

Education or Formal Training:


Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred

Experience:


At least 4-6 years of experience with indirect taxes at a large multi-state corporation or public accounting firm


At least 3-4 years of experience with preparing sales and use tax returns in a multistate environment utilizing sales tax preparation software specifically CorpSales


Experience with technical tax laws, regulations, and interpreting tax laws as it relates to sales tax compliance
