Position Summary
Victory Plumbing is seeking a motivated and dependable Plumber Helper (Apprentice) to assist licensed plumbers and plumbing technicians with the installation, repair, maintenance, and servicing of plumbing systems.

This is an entry-level or developing skilled-trades position intended for someone who wants to build a long-term career in the plumbing industry. The Plumber Helper / Apprentice works under the direction and supervision of an assigned licensed plumber and assists with tools, materials, job-site preparation, installations, repairs, cleanup, documentation, and vehicle organization.
The ideal candidate is punctual, safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, willing to learn, and able to follow directions. The apprentice is expected to develop plumbing knowledge and technical skills through supervised field experience, training, and increasing levels of responsibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plumbing Assistance and Skill Development
  • Assist licensed plumbers with residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing service and construction work.
  • Help install, repair, maintain, and service water supply, drainage, sewer, gas, vent, fixture, and related plumbing systems.
  • Measure, cut, assemble, and prepare piping and other plumbing materials as directed.
  • Assist with installing and replacing plumbing fixtures, faucets, toilets, water heaters, disposals, valves, piping, and related components.
  • Dig trenches, make penetrations, remove damaged materials, and prepare work areas as directed.
  • Hand tools, materials, equipment, and supplies to the assigned plumber as needed.
  • Observe and assist with diagnosing plumbing problems and identifying appropriate repair methods.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, equipment manuals, and plumbing codes.
  • Develop knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, tools, terminology, installation methods, and repair procedures.
  • Perform only those plumbing duties authorized by the supervising plumber and permitted by applicable laws and regulations.
  • Never perform unsupervised plumbing work requiring a license, certification, or level of experience the apprentice does not possess.
  • Ask questions when instructions, job requirements, or safety expectations are unclear.
  • Participate in required technical training, safety training, and apprenticeship development activities.
Job-Site Preparation and Support
  • Help load, unload, transport, and stage tools, equipment, fixtures, and materials.
  • Confirm that required tools and materials are available before leaving for a job site.
  • Help protect customer property by using floor coverings, drop cloths, shoe covers, and other protective materials.
  • Set up and organize work areas before plumbing work begins.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area throughout the job.
  • Remove debris, packaging, discarded materials, and job-related waste.
  • Assist with restoring the work area to a clean and professional condition before leaving.
  • Ensure company tools, equipment, and unused materials are collected and accounted for at the end of each job.
  • Return unused and returnable parts to the warehouse, supplier, or designated storage location as directed.
  • Notify the assigned plumber of damaged, missing, defective, or incorrect materials.
Tools, Equipment, and Inventory
  • Learn the correct and safe use of hand tools, power tools, ladders, diagnostic equipment, and plumbing equipment.
  • Inspect tools and equipment before use and report damaged or unsafe items.
  • Clean, maintain, organize, and properly store company tools and equipment.
  • Help maintain required truck-stock inventory and notify the assigned plumber when items need to be replenished.
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, loading, and delivering materials to job sites.
  • Ensure materials used on a job are accurately communicated to the assigned plumber for billing and inventory purposes.
  • Do not remove, transfer, return, or dispose of company or customer materials without authorization.
  • Maintain accountability for all company-issued tools, uniforms, safety equipment, and property.
ServiceTitan, Timekeeping, and Documentation
  • Clock in and out accurately in accordance with company policy.
  • Ensure the apprentice is properly dispatched to each assigned job in ServiceTitan or other company-approved software.
  • Accurately record time spent on each job, including travel, work, breaks, meetings, training, and other assigned activities.
  • Verify job assignments and time entries with the assigned plumber before the job is closed.
  • Assist with collecting job photos, material information, equipment details, serial numbers, or other documentation as directed.
  • Submit purchase receipts promptly and ensure the correct job number or customer name is included.
  • Notify the assigned plumber or manager immediately of any timekeeping, dispatch, receipt, or documentation errors.
  • Maintain accurate apprenticeship or on-the-job training records when required.
Customer Service and Professional Conduct
  • Treat customers, coworkers, contractors, vendors, and members of the public with courtesy and respect.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and wear the required company uniform and personal protective equipment.
  • Introduce yourself professionally and follow the assigned plumber’s direction when interacting with customers.
  • Protect customer property and maintain awareness of cleanliness, noise, pets, gates, doors, and access instructions.
  • Do not discuss pricing, discounts, concessions, job changes, or additional work with a customer unless specifically authorized.
  • Direct technical, pricing, scheduling, and complaint-related questions to the assigned plumber or manager.
  • Maintain customer confidentiality and protect private information encountered on job sites.
  • Represent Victory Plumbing positively and professionally at all times.
  • Refrain from using tobacco, vaping, inappropriate language, or personal mobile devices in customer-facing areas except as permitted by company policy.
Safety and Regulatory Compliance
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, job-site rules, and instructions from the supervising plumber.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, work boots, hearing protection, and other equipment appropriate to the task.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, injuries, property damage, vehicle accidents, spills, and near misses immediately.
  • Use ladders, power tools, chemicals, and equipment only after receiving appropriate instruction and authorization.
  • Follow safe lifting, trenching, confined-space, electrical-awareness, and material-handling procedures.
  • Do not operate equipment or perform work for which training or authorization has not been provided.
  • Maintain required licenses, registrations, certifications, and training records applicable to the position.
Company Vehicle Responsibilities
  • Assist the assigned driver with daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Report vehicle damage, mechanical problems, maintenance needs, warning lights, or safety concerns promptly.
  • Help keep the assigned company vehicle clean, fueled, stocked, and organized.
  • Secure tools, materials, equipment, and customer property before the vehicle is moved.
  • Assist with loading and unloading the vehicle safely.
  • Operate a company vehicle only when specifically authorized and insurable under the company’s automobile policy.
  • Comply with all traffic laws, company vehicle policies, and mobile-device restrictions.
Communication and Teamwork
  • Report to work on time and prepared for the day’s assignments.
  • Follow instructions from the assigned plumber, Service Manager, Construction Manager, and other authorized supervisors.
  • Communicate job progress, material needs, delays, safety concerns, and problems promptly.
  • Work cooperatively with plumbers, technicians, apprentices, helpers, dispatchers, office staff, contractors, and other trades.
  • Accept coaching and constructive feedback and demonstrate improvement over time.
  • Assist other crews or departments when assigned.
  • Demonstrate initiative while remaining within the apprentice’s training, authorization, and supervision requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • No prior plumbing experience is required for an entry-level candidate; related construction, maintenance, mechanical, or skilled-trades experience is beneficial.
  • Genuine interest in learning the plumbing trade and pursuing professional development.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn the use of tools and equipment.
  • Dependable attendance, punctuality, and reliable transportation to the designated reporting location.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Professional communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to use a smartphone or tablet for timekeeping, dispatch, training, and job documentation.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record if driving responsibilities are assigned.
  • Ability to comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any apprentice registration, credential, or certification required by the applicable authority.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous plumbing, construction, maintenance, warehouse, mechanical, or general labor experience.
  • Enrollment in or completion of a plumbing apprenticeship or vocational training program.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing tools, materials, and terminology.
  • OSHA 10 training or certification.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools.
  • Valid CPR or first-aid certification.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, reach, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials, fixtures, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at varying heights.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools for extended periods.
  • Ability to enter and exit service vehicles and travel between job sites throughout the workday.
  • Ability to perform physical work in varying weather and job-site conditions.

Work Environment
  • Work is performed at residential, commercial, industrial, and construction job sites.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, dirt, wet conditions, odors, chemicals, confined spaces, and active construction environments may occur.
  • Outdoor work may be required in heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditions.
  • Use of hand tools, power tools, ladders, plumbing equipment, and personal protective equipment is required.
  • Work schedules may vary based on customer needs, project schedules, emergencies, and workload.
  • Occasional extended hours, early mornings, evenings, weekends, or on-call assignments may be required.
Drug Testing and Background Check
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening.
  • A background check may be required in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
  • Continued employment may be subject to random, post-accident, or reasonable-suspicion drug testing in accordance with company policy and applicable law.
  • Employees assigned driving responsibilities must remain insurable under the company’s commercial automobile insurance policy.
