Produce Quality Manager

Alpine Fresh, LLC is seeking an experienced Produce Quality Manager to oversee and support quality assurance and quality control initiatives across our South Florida operations. This position reports directly to the Director of Quality and serves as a key resource in maintaining product quality, strengthening quality systems, and ensuring alignment with company and customer expectations. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands‑on experience within the fresh produce industry, with specific expertise in the berry category, including blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries. This role requires a strong understanding of product condition management, inspection processes, operational quality control, and continuous improvement within a fast‑paced produce environment. This is a hands‑on role for an experienced quality professional who can independently manage day‑to‑day quality activities while partnering cross‑functionally with operations, logistics, procurement, and sales teams. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow into a broader leadership role as the quality function continues to evolve. This position requires a consistent on‑site presence in Doral, Florida, with flexibility to work additional hours outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, when needed. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and guidance to quality assurance activities while maintaining high standards of product quality, consistency, and compliance with company and customer specifications. Perform and oversee quality inspections on inbound and outbound product. Identify, document, and communicate quality concerns including defects, decay, temperature issues, handling concerns, and overall product condition throughout storage and distribution cycles. Collaborate with operations, logistics, procurement, inspectors, and sales teams to communicate findings, resolve quality concerns, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Implement, monitor, and strengthen quality control programs, SOPs, traceability procedures, and overall quality assurance systems. Assist with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and reporting related to quality failures and customer concerns. Maintain accurate inspection records, product reports, specifications, and quality documentation. Communicate directly with suppliers and growers to support product consistency and adherence to company and customer expectations. Education & Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field preferred. Experience Required 5+ years of operational experience within the fresh produce industry preferred, including experience in a quality assurance or quality control environment. Prior experience in a QA/QC management, supervisory, or leadership role required. Strong fresh produce industry experience required. Hands‑on experience with the berry category required, specifically blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries. Proven ability to independently manage quality processes, identify issues, and implement corrective actions. Experience evaluating product condition, managing quality concerns, and communicating findings to internal and external partners. Proven ability to coach, mentor, and provide guidance to team members. Experience working with growers, suppliers, customers, and cross‑functional teams to resolve quality concerns. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed. A valid passport is required. Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal) required. Strong organizational, planning, and problem‑solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience using ERP and QA systems, or the ability to quickly learn new systems. Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound judgment. Strong cross‑functional communication and collaboration skills. Results‑driven mindset with the ability to balance quality expectations and operational priorities.
