Social Media Intern

Kennedy Mountain Campus, Wellness and Recreation and the job listing Expires on September 19, 2026 This position will manage the social media presence for and otherwise assist with the marketing of programs and services for the Daniel L. Ritchie Center for Sports & Wellness (Ritchie) and the James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus (KMC). The position has an anticipated start date of September 2026. This is a non-benefited, part-time position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year. Work-study funding is preferred but not required. Compensation & Time Commitment The hourly range for this position is $20-21. The position is part-time, and work hours vary. Approximately 6-10 hours a week, typically 2-4 hour shifts. Maximum 20 hours per week. Work is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at the OER office in the basement level of Driscoll Commons. In compliance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non-benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per year. Essential Functions Manage the day-to-day activity of our social media accounts, including Facebook for both KMC and Ritchie and the Instagram accounts @du_kmc and @du_ritchiecenter. This work entails tasks such as: Assist with the creation of a social media calendar for these pages. Ideate and produce content for social media, including short-form videos, graphic designs, image carousels, and more. Draft compelling, on-brand captions and source relevant images for posts. Engage with comments and other relevant pages respectfully and responsibly. Partner with DU students to collect and edit student-generated content for use within these channels. Take and edit photographs and video content for various communication channels. Assist with marketing communication to all audiences (students, faculty/staff, members, alumni, community). On a limited basis, attend campus and community events to provide marketing support. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent storytelling ability through written and visual content. Experience with photography, videography, and/or graphic design (Canva). Ability to work both individually and as part of a team. Ability to provide excellent customer service to our audiences. Willingness to learn new skills and take on responsibility. Required Qualifications One year experience in social media content creation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Organizational skills and multitasking ability. Basic familiarity with social media platforms and posting practices, specifically Instagram and Facebook. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years experience managing social media platforms. Experience with graphic design software and interfaces like Canva and Adobe Suite. Experience with video-editing software like CapCut or Adobe Premiere. Driscoll Commons is the primary office for in-person work. Per the hybrid schedule, some work will be remote. Stress level is moderate. Noise level varies in and out of office but is typically moderate. Physical Activities Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
