Radiologic Technologist - Radiology General

Location MMH-71 Haynes Street (10627) Position Summary Under the direction of a Workflow Coordinator, Manager/Supervisor and/or Team Leader, performs or assists in radiographic procedures at a level that does not require direct supervision over technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, good knowledge of anatomy, positioning and a thorough technical knowledge of equipment. Assumes responsibility for a designated area or procedure as may be required. Competencies Ability to talk, read and write in English. Bilingual Spanish desirable but not required. Advanced mathematical skills in physics to determine radiologic exposure settings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs all routine radiographic procedures per department standards, protocols and guidelines required by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the State of Connecticut. Exhibits proficiency in routine radiographic procedures and fluoroscopic exams (including gastro‑intestinal studies, ERCPs, arthrography, hysterosalpingography, urography and portable X‑ray equipment, including C‑arm procedures). Provides proper clinical patient care while performing diagnostic procedures. Provides careful critique and assessment of image quality. Exhibits accuracy in computer documentation. Mentors students in clinical and ethical aspects of the Radiologic Technologist profession. Maintains stock levels and personal protective equipment of assigned stations. Exhibits constant awareness of infection control standards. Works cooperatively to accomplish a task as a member of the team. Performs miscellaneous duties as may be required. Qualifications Education/Certification High School diploma or GED equivalent. Must pass the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) National Board and hold a State of Connecticut license to practice Radiographic technical procedures, or obtain within 3 months of graduation. Must obtain mandatory continuing education units (CEUs) to maintain state licensure on an ongoing basis. Must have Basic Cardiac Life Support certification upon hire and maintain competency during employment. Experience Fully knowledgeable and capable of independently performing at least two modalities. Complete working knowledge of principles of physics, anatomy, medical terminology, sterile technique and radiation protection as related to Radiology practice.
