Maintenance Technician

  • 6:00p - 4:30a (Monday-Thursday)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Responsible for solving mechanical, pneumatic, electronic and minor electrical problems of the plant facility and production equipment in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.
  2. Resolve problems of plant, packaging and processing equipment such as wiring, circuits, fuses, switches, electrical installations, transformers, motors and AC/DC motor control circuits.
  3. Responsible for repairing minor leaks and overall system performance of the steam system.
  4. Completion of PM's (preventive maintenance) in a timely fashion.
  5. Responsible for point-of-use filtration and maintenance of the compressed air system.
  6. Maintain proper operation of the water distribution system.
  7. Troubleshooting abilities using electrical testing equipment.
  8. Knowledge of the PSM/RMP ammonia system program.
  9. Must have an understanding of how the ammonia system functions and possess the ability to troubleshoot when issues occur with approved training. Must possess Ammonia Operator I and Ammonia Operator II training.
  10. Have understanding of electrical systems, welding, fabricating, variable frequency drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication and drive trains.
  11. Shall understand and follow HAACP and GMP policies.
  12. Maintain a clean working environment.
  13. Follow all company policies and procedures to produce safe, quality and legal products.
  14. Normal work week is 40 hours per week; however, it may be necessary to work overtime on a daily and/or weekly basis.
Requirements

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CHARACTERISTICS
  1. Ability to read, speak and understand the English language. Must be able to perform simple math problems, including addition, subtraction and multiplication.
  2. Must be able to work in various environments of the facility including palletizing and freezer areas.
  3. A high school diploma or GED required, or two or more years English as a Second Language classes required.
  4. Technical or vocational training relative to the above listed areas is required and a minimum of two years' experience in the field is required.
  5. Work in a team environment so must have ability to work well with others and possess good communication skills.
  6. Observe all safety rules and regulations to assure your own personal safety and that of co-workers. Must follow all proper ergonomic and safety practices.
  7. Bending, kneeling, stooping, walking, standing, reaching, grasping, carrying, repetitive motions and visual skills are required.
  8. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds consistently and up to 52 pounds occasionally.
