The Concrete Laborer performs a full range of concrete work from general labor through flatwork finishing on commercial projects. This role includes site preparation, rebar placement, setting and stripping forms, pouring concrete, and finishing large flat surfaces, with occasional poured wall work. You will work with tools such as bull floats and power concrete screeds while supporting a traveling crew on various job sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labor tasks related to commercial concrete construction, from initial site preparation through final finishing.

• Prepare job sites by clearing, leveling, and organizing materials for concrete pours.

• Place and tie rebar and assist with minimal form work, including setting, adjusting, and removing concrete forms.

• Participate in concrete pouring operations for flatwork and occasional poured walls.

• Use finishing tools such as bull floats and power concrete screeds to achieve smooth, level concrete surfaces.

• Support flat, finished work across large areas, including a 100,000-square-foot flat site pour.

• Assist with carpentry-related tasks connected to concrete formwork and general construction activities.

• Work collaboratively with a traveling team, following directions from foremen and more senior crew members.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area, handling tools, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently.

• Travel daily with the crew to changing job sites, adapting to different site conditions and schedules.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of flat concrete finishing experience, including pouring, setting forms, and finishing surfaces.

• Hands-on experience with concrete pouring, form setting, and concrete finishing in a commercial environment.

• Ability to use concrete finishing tools such as bull floats and power concrete screeds.

• General labor experience in a commercial concrete construction setting is preferred.

• Comfort with daily travel to and from changing job sites, which is required for this role.

• Reliable work ethic and ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors for extended periods.

• Capability to work effectively as part of a construction crew, following instructions and contributing to team goals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in general construction or carpentry, particularly related to concrete formwork, is beneficial.

• Background in concrete construction, including rebar placement and concrete forms, is an advantage.

• Exposure to landscaping or solar-related construction projects can be helpful but is not required.

• Foreman or higher-level leadership experience is not required but may be considered for more advanced opportunities.

• Stable work history and a career-minded attitude are valued, even if direct concrete experience is limited.

• Willingness to work on a wide range of job sites and adapt to changing project locations.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Cloud, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
