Job Title

High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area, e.g., data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc., plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Class C driver's license when hired. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check. Must be able to possess/retain a valid Texas Class B CDL driver's license within one year of employment. TCEQ Class D Water License and type 1 collection or equivalent license required within 12 months of hire date or promotion. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Ability to compile, assemble, copy, record and/or transcribe data and/or information according to a prescribed schematic or plan. Includes judging whether readily observable functional, structural, or compositional characteristics are like or divergent from prescribed standards, procedures, or routines. Ability to exchange information for the purpose of obtaining information or clarifying details. Performs such within well-established policies, procedures, and standards. Ability to utilize a wide variety of reference data and information, such as utility maps, work orders, and City Employee Handbook. Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action. Ability to exercise the judgment required in situations characterized by repetitive or short cycle operations covered by set procedures or sequences. Ability to perform coordinated movements involving placing and turning motions, such as operating a backhoe, front-end loader, ton truck, dump truck, water pump, probe rod, and various tools. Ability to respond to emergency situations outside of normal business hours. Effective oral and written communication skills. Requires the ability to coordinate, manage and execute multiple tasks. Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions related to maintenance, operation, and construction of the city's utility system.
