Applications must be received by the closing deadline of 11:59pm on 10/29/2026 in order to be considered.Position DescriptionThe Anoka County Public Health and Environmental Services Department has an immediate opening for a Senior Health Education Specialist, Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP). In this position you will support community members and partners by promoting health resources and improving systems related to population health. The Senior Health Education Specialist is responsible for improving the health of Anoka County by developing relationships in the community, and providing education on chronic disease prevention and general wellness to residents and community partners.This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid, position. Interviews will take place the week of Nov 2, 2026, for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.Pay & BenefitsAnoka County Salary Schedule Grade 32: $64,480.00 to $90,230.40 ($31.00 to $43.38 per hour)24 days of paid flexible time off and up to 12.5 paid holidaysComprehensive insurance, including medical, dental, vision, flex benefits and more at and dental clinic exclusive to employees, located at the Anoka County Government CenterPension plan and other retirement investment optionsAdvancement/professional development opportunitiesWork LocationThis position will work at the Anoka County Government Center, located at 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka, MN 55303This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work, with some days working remotely and some days working in the officeExpected work hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesThese examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Senior Health Education Specialist.Promote, maintain and improve individual and community health by assisting individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviorsDesign and implement health education programs designed to increase awareness and knowledge for the improvement of health in the communityConduct assessments and surveys to determine health education needsOversee health education programs and servicesEvaluate the effectiveness of programs and educational materialsKeep current on changes and best practices in health education programsDevelop and maintain relationships with agencies and community organizationsMaintain database, mailing lists, telephone networks, and other information to facilitate the coordination of health education programsMake recommendations for developing plans and policies towards achieving health education objectivesSpeak to groups and provide education to promote preventative health practicesImplement programing within the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) programProvide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to the SHIP team as it relates to the focus areaQualifications and Requirements:Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities NeededRequires a bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of job-related experienceIn lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basisSuccessfully pass driver’s license background checkMust have valid driver's license and vehicle available for business usePreferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities NeededMaster’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, Public Policy or related fieldStrong verbal and written communication skillsExperience working with K-12 school systems.Physical Demands and Work ConditionsVision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades, and brightnessHearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine soundsAssignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer workOccasional lifting of 10-20 lbs.Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipmentOccasional travel to other county work sites as needed.
