Quality Control Technician

Quality Control TechnicianAs a Quality Control Technician, you will be responsible for evaluating finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. You will conduct necessary analyses and communicate any product quality issues to relevant departments. Additionally, you will maintain records in compliance with documentation requirements and monitor equipment for functionality, safety, and cleanliness.ResponsibilitiesEvaluate finished products for quality and acceptability based on product specifications.Conduct necessary analyses and communicate quality issues to Production Supervisors and Managers, QC Manager, and shipping and customer service staff.Log all analysis test results and batch information in the I-Series (AS400) and maintain necessary records for documentation compliance.Monitor line equipment for functionality, safety, and cleanliness.Check metal detectors (CCP), magnets, scales, and perform critical control point & GMP audits.Assist in foreign material and product non-conformance investigations.Perform batch set-up checks, assist in correcting setups, and log discrepancies.Place products on hold and release them when appropriate.Reject products as necessary and complete rejection forms including root cause and corrective action analysis.Check allergen clean-out effectiveness as needed.Perform Pre-Op audits when necessary, especially if equipment is down for maintenance.Perform production scale checks and lab equipment calibration based on the calibration schedule.Collect micro samples as needed and place micro hold products on hold.Perform special tasks as assigned and manage the sample area and control sample file.Follow all GMPs and safety procedures.Essential SkillsExperience in quality control, preferably in food manufacturing.High School Diploma or GED with 1-2 years of related work experience.Proficiency in using quality control analysis equipment.Fluency in spoken and written English.Strong mathematical skills.Computer and data processing skills.Ability to climb ladders and work on platforms.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Additional Skills & QualificationsCandidates with a degree may be promoted quickly.Work EnvironmentThis role requires flexibility as the position is on the 3rd shift, with training potentially on 1st or 2nd shift. Training lasts about three months, with 1st shift hours from 5 am to 2 pm. Candidates should expect a decent amount of overtime, working up to 12-hour shifts and potentially six days a week, depending on production needs. The 2nd shift operates from 2 pm to 10 pm, and the 3rd shift from 10 pm to 6 am. A shift differential applies: $0.85 for the 2nd shift and $1.05 for the 3rd shift. Reliable transportation is necessary.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.50 - $22.55/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
