Certified Medical Assistant

Overview Memorial Hermann-GoHealth Urgent Care is a leading urgent care provider in Houston, TX that integrates patient experience with health systems. The Medical Assistant supports providers by managing patient registration, conducting assessments, drawing specimens, coordinating referrals, and maintaining exam rooms. Responsibilities Assist in patient registration, secure paperwork, and verify insurance eligibility. Conduct interviews, record vital signs (pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height) and medical history. Draw and collect blood samples, prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Perform point‑of‑care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and supply results to provider. Prepare and stock exam rooms, front desk and reception areas; maintain medical supplies and order inventory. Maintain medical records, scan charts, and ensure quality control logs for equipment. Answer phone calls, process daily postal correspondence, and conduct courtesy call‑backs for follow‑up. Perform opening and closing duties, including cashing out and securing the building. Coordinate provider referrals and manage patient flow to technical staff. Assist with preventive equipment maintenance, troubleshoot breakdowns and submit repair tickets. Provide exceptional written and verbal communication and treat all persons with fairness, respect. Qualifications High School Diploma required; graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred. Medical Assistant experience preferred; front desk experience preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire. At least one of the following: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA, or an approved MA certification. Alternative certifications: accredited nursing school graduate, LPN, RN, EMT, or CNA accepted. Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to type quickly and maintain attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Team‑orientated and able to accomplish goals. Compensation Hourly rate: $18.00–$25.00. Monthly incentive bonus based on performance metrics.
