Your role on the team Design, develop, and optimize logical and physical database models to support business and technical requirements Oversee the architecture, implementation, and management of highly available, scalable, and secure database solutions (on‑premises and/or cloud) Set database standards, guidelines, and best practices for data modeling, data integrity, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery Collaborate with software engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into robust database designs Evaluate and recommend new database technologies, tools, and platforms to meet evolving business requirements Lead or participate in database migration, integration, and modernization initiatives Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies for optimal efficiency Enforce data governance policies and ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations Mentor and provide technical guidance to database administrators and junior engineers Develop and maintain database documentation, architecture diagrams, and data dictionaries Other Duties As required and assigned Support GEODIS’ programs for Safety, Health, Environment, Quality, Ethics, Compliance, CSRs and Sustainability What you need 8+ years of experience in database design, architecture, and administration Experience with cloud database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) is highly desirable Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security best practices Proficient in SQL, data modeling tools, and scripting languages Experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and big data solutions is a plus (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, AWS Certified Database – Specialty, or equivalent are a plus Experience with distributed database systems and sharding strategies Exposure to real‑time streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis) Bonus if you have Strategic thinking and architectural vision Leadership and mentoring abilities Strong documentation and presentation skills, ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills Knowledge of database security, encryption, and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA) Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible) for database provisioning What you gain from joining our team Access wages early with the Rain financial wellness app Free telemedical access to doctors and therapists through FirstStopHealth available first day of employment Health, dental, and vision insurance after 30 days of employment Paid maternity and paternity leave Access to career development, employee resource groups, and mentorship programs Access to employee perks like fitness class discounts and free access to a relaxation and meditation app Free financial wellness programs Opportunities to volunteer and give back to your community Join our Team!
