The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience. New hires are typically brought into the organization between $22.53 - $28.17. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect to work in person 3 days per week. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

Division of Economic Security: Through our Economic Security Division (ESD), Denver Human Services seeks to engage residents in strengthening economic well-being and mobility across their lifespan. By leveraging the resources of Denver Human Services' programs and a network of community partnerships, Economic Security provides a holistic approach to service delivery in order to assist customers in the ability to foresee crisis as well as adapt to and leverage changing life conditions to their advantage.

The Economic Security Division is comprised of the following program areas: Colorado Works Workforce Development, SNAP to Success (Denver's name for Employment First), Childcare Assistance Program (CCAP) and Child Support Services (CSS).

Child Support Services (CSS) is currently seeking highly skilled applicants for the position Child Support Technician I to work with our dynamic accounting unit. CSS partners with federal, state, tribal, and local governments, in addition to other partners, and works to promote parental responsibility so that children receive support from both parents, even when they live in separate households. Nationally, the child support program is one of the largest income-support programs for families, contributing money to family budgets to help pay for the basics: shelter, food, childcare, transportation, and school clothes. Our program strives to incorporate innovative strategies to improve the consistency and reliability of child support payments. Our dedicated team of accounting professionals play a pivotal role in ensuring child support payments are received by families timely.

Specifically, you will:

• Perform critical accounting functions related to Child Support Services programs including arrears calculations, processing child support payments, updating financial records, and executing several different financial reports using Microsoft Excel and other software programs. All fiscal duties require a strong mathematical aptitude.
• Enter, compile, and maintain client records in various databases, including updating ledger balance information on the Automated Child Support Enforcement System (ACSES).
• Review court orders and minutes to determine child support obligations and arrears.
• Complete financial reports monthly, including contacting customers who are not cashing child support checks.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

• Experience with frequent manual calculations and meticulous attention to numerical detail, a strong mathematical aptitude is ideal.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Experience with managing multiple high priority tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
• Experience with Colorado's Automated Child Support Enforcement System (ACSES), Adobe, and Microsoft suite is a plus.
• Valid Driver's License preferred (not required)

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
• Experience: Four (4) years of experience performing office support work.
• Education & Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
