A growing local municipality is seeking an experienced Facilities & Maintenance Manager to help lead the operation, maintenance, repair, and long-term improvement of a diverse portfolio of public buildings and facilities.
This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role for someone who understands building systems, maintenance operations, HVAC, preventive maintenance, contractors, capital improvements, and the day-to-day realities of keeping facilities safe, reliable, efficient, and operational.
We are open to candidates from a wide range of industries and environments. Municipal or public-sector experience is valuable, but it is not required.
Strong transferable backgrounds may include Hanford and DOE contractors, food and beverage manufacturing, agricultural processing, industrial facilities, healthcare, higher education, school districts, commercial property management, utilities, airports, hospitality, large campuses, construction, HVAC, building services, and other complex facilities environments.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Lead the maintenance, repair, operation, and improvement of municipal buildings and facilities.
- Oversee day-to-day facilities and maintenance activities across multiple locations.
- Develop and support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Improve equipment reliability, facility condition, and long-term asset performance.
- Supervise, coach, and support maintenance employees and skilled trades personnel.
- Prioritize work orders, emergency repairs, preventive maintenance, and facility improvement projects.
- Support HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building automation, life-safety, and other facility systems.
- Coordinate repairs and troubleshooting involving building equipment and infrastructure.
- Manage outside contractors, vendors, consultants, and service providers.
- Support HVAC maintenance, service contracts, replacement planning, and building comfort issues.
- Oversee building condition assessments, asset inventories, and replacement planning.
- Help develop short- and long-term maintenance and capital improvement priorities.
- Manage or support facility renovation, repair, and capital improvement projects.
- Coordinate construction activities from planning through completion.
- Support operating and capital budget development and ongoing cost management.
- Use work-order and CMMS systems to track maintenance activities, asset history, and performance.
- Help ensure compliance with applicable OSHA/WISHA, ADA, building-code, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Respond to urgent facility, utility, mechanical, or building-system issues.
- Partner with City departments, employees, contractors, vendors, and leadership to deliver dependable facility services.

The strongest candidates will typically bring several years of progressively responsible experience in facilities, maintenance, HVAC, building operations, construction, industrial maintenance, or a closely related field.
Leadership experience is important, whether that has come through formal management, supervision, lead responsibilities, project leadership, contractor oversight, or coordinating maintenance teams.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience with some combination of:
- Leading or coordinating maintenance personnel
- HVAC and major building systems
- Preventive and predictive maintenance
- Mechanical troubleshooting
- Multi-building or multi-site operations
- CMMS or work-order systems
- Contractor and vendor management

- Emergency repairs and operational response
An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Operations, Public Administration, or a related field is helpful, but equivalent combinations of technical training and relevant experience will also be considered.
