Campus Police Officer

Description Summary Police Officers ensure the campus community’s safety and propertyprotection by performing assigned duties, such as visible campuspatrol and enforcing applicable laws. Ensuring that the college’srules and regulations are obeyed. An Officer must be able tocomplete a thorough preliminary investigation, make sounddecisions, and take appropriate action. Officers must be able todemonstrate the Morton College core values of compassion, fairness,respect, responsibility, tolerance, and truth. Police Officer mustwork hours mandated monthly per the CBA and be flexible to covershifts to meet department needs. Duties & Responsibilities Enforce applicable federal, state, and local laws; and collegerules and regulations. Enforce traffic and parking regulations on campus. Assume responsibility for the operations of Campus Safety. Protect the persons and property of all staff, students, andguests within the confines of the college or college-controlledproperties. Ensure the safety of the campus, identify risks, and makeproper notifications to address the issue. Conduct a proper investigation to an end result. Complete thorough reports based on facts through a properinterview and submit them for review. Provide emergency medical assistance and be First Aidcertified. Demonstrate and promote good communication, de-escalationtechniques, and mental health awareness. Qualifications Required Qualifications High school diploma, GED or equivalent. Two years of lawenforcement experience. Must have a valid state driver’s license,FOID Card (Illinois residents), and valid Illinois police officerstate certification and/or ability to update/renew if retired lawenforcement able to obtain a state of IL training waiver issues bythe IL Law Enforcement Training and Standard Board. Possess strongwriting, communication, and decision-making skills. Strong computerskills including Microsoft. Must have CPR and first-aidcertification. Must pass a criminal background investigation, drugtest, and physical. Must be able to demonstrate the Morton College core values ofCompassion, Equity, Accountability, Innovation, andExcellence. Preferred Qualifications An Associate Degree in Law Enforcement or Military. CertifiedCrisis Intervention Team ( CIT ), juvenile or school resourceofficer.
