Senior Database Engineer

Role Description

IDT is looking for a rock star Database Engineer to join our database services team. If you are highly motivated, ambitious, ready to learn and make a direct impact, this is your opportunity!

The individual in this role will perform database analysis, design and administration functions to deliver on strategic projects specific to organizational goals. The ideal candidate would have in-depth experience with MongoDB, MySQL, Couchbase, and PostgreSQL technologies in an enterprise environment.

Excellent communication, problem solving, multitasking, troubleshooting skills, logical thinking and attention to detail are required to work in this challenging and dynamic environment.

Primary responsibilities encompass full-lifecycle database administration, including:

• Provisioning new MongoDB clusters
• Tuning replication
• Handling backup and recovery
• Deploying software patches
• Managing schema changes
• Collaborating with developers on collection, index, and SQL query design
• Providing 24/7 support
• Participating in the DBA on-call rotation

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science or equivalent
• A minimum of 8-10 years of DBA experience
• Deep experience with MongoDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases
• Experience with databases hosted on Linux
• Database architecture and high availability solutions
• Amazon RDS platform
• Troubleshooting application issues and database object design

Requirements

• Prior experience with System / Network administration (nice to have)
• Oracle / CouchBase (nice to have)
• Deep expertise on the MongoDB platform is welcome even without enough exposure to Oracle / MySQL technologies
