Park Guide Interpreter

We are currently looking for a Full Time Park Guide Interpreter to join our Cultural Center Community Gardens Conservation Educator team located at the Chickasaw Visitor Center. Summary: To provide history and culture to visitors with an emphasis on Chickasaw history and culture and Chickasaw National Recreation Area and Historic Platt National Park history. Responsibilities:

• Provides pre-established talks following a prescribed outline and requiring application of broad subject -matter knowledge of the features of interest peculiar to the site
• Answers a wide variety of visitor questions. The answers to these questions require explanation and description of the background of the events leading up to the natural or scientific
• Guides large groups (up to 25 people) along fixed routes. Must control group, keep on route and maintain a schedule while protecting historic sites
• Provides a wide range of services to visitors, including assistance with lost articles, car trouble, and first aid; provides information about weather conditions, highway routes, park and concessioner facilities, and prices
• Provides public orientation and explanations of current park events, and informs visitors of potential safety hazards
• Assist with other miscellaneous duties as needed. Includes but not limited to issuing camping permits, assisting with on-the-job training, minor maintenance, maintain property inventory and operate and maintain audio visual equipment.
• Animal caretaker on a limited basis
• Develops interpretive presentations
• All other duties as assigned

Skills: Essential: * Excellent public speaking skills Experience: Nonessential: * 3 years directly related experience Education: Essential: * High School, GED or Equivalent Nonessential: * Bachelors Degree in directly related field Nonessential: * Completion of a bachelor's degree in Native American Studies, History, Geography, Natural Science, or Recreational Studies Credentials: Essential:

• Pass general background check
• Standard Driver's License
