HEROES Physical Therapy is a small but mighty pediatric clinic in Allegan, MI, and we’re looking for a Pediatric Occupational Therapist who wants to make a real difference in the lives of kids and families. What You’ll Be Doing

This role is hands-on, creative, and incredibly rewarding. Your week may include things like:

• Supporting children in mobility development, sensory integration, and fine motor skills using a variety of fun, movement-based Therapy.
• Incorporating Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) into sessions — or learning it if you haven’t used it yet.
• Completing wheelchair and seating evaluations, helping families understand how proper positioning can impact their child’s comfort, function, and overall mobility.
• Conducting durable medical equipment evaluations, including seating and mobility devices, and working with vendors when needed.
• Coaching families so they feel confident continuing strategies at home — always keeping parents at the center of the process.
• Working closely with a small team that values communication, respect, and showing up for each other.
• Celebrating progress, no matter how big or small.

Essential Functions

• Provide pediatric occupational therapy services focused on mobility development, sensory integration, fine motor skills, and functional daily activities.
• Incorporate Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) into treatment sessions or actively participate in training to develop competency in this method.
• Perform wheelchair sitting evaluations, including assessment of posture, positioning, comfort, and overall functional needs.
• Conduct durable medical equipment (DME) evaluations related to seating systems, mobility devices, and adaptive equipment; collaborate with equipment vendors as needed.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and document progress in accordance with clinic standards and best practices.
• Provide coaching and education to caregivers to support successful carryover of strategies in the home and community.
• Collaborate with a small, interdisciplinary team to ensure consistent, family-centered care.
• Maintain a supportive, respectful, and encouraging environment for children and families.
• Participate in ongoing professional development, team meetings, and opportunities to enhance clinical skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong understanding of pediatric development, sensory processing, neuromotor development, and functional skill acquisition.
• Interest in — or willingness to learn — Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) and other movement-based pediatric treatment approaches.
• Ability to conduct wheelchair seating assessments and DME evaluations (training available if needed).
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to connect with children and communicate clearly and warmly with families.
• Creative problem-solving abilities and willingness to think outside the box in treatment planning.
• Comfort working with children of varying abilities, energy levels, and communication styles.
• Ability to maintain accurate, timely documentation.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude in a dynamic clinical environment.
• Commitment to family-centered care and collaborative teamwork.
• Capacity to build trusting, long-lasting relationships with families and colleagues.

Education and Experience

• Master of Occupational Therapy
• Current Michigan Occupational Therapist license (or eligibility for licensure).
• Pediatric experience is preferred but new graduates with strong interest in pediatrics are highly encouraged to apply.
• Experience with Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI), sensory integration, or pediatric mobility is helpful but not required — training and mentorship are available.
• Experience with wheelchair seating or durable medical equipment assessments is a plus but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
