Make an impact supporting elementary students in a dedicated self-contained autism program within a school environment. This contract position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a supportive multidisciplinary team and make a difference in the lives of children with significant learning and behavioral needs.

Key Qualifications:

• Current and valid VA Special Education teaching license
• Successful experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Background in self-contained special education classrooms
• Knowledge of ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) principles and teaching strategies
• Familiarity with visual schedules, social stories, structured teaching, and functional communication systems
• Proven skills in supporting students with significant cognitive and behavioral needs
• Crisis prevention and de-escalation training strongly preferred

Core Responsibilities:

• Lead instruction for an elementary self-contained classroom focused on students with autism
• Develop, adapt, and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to promote student growth
• Utilize visual supports, structured schedules, and evidence-based strategies aligned with ABA and autism best practices
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to ensure comprehensive student support
• Manage classroom routines and behavior supports to foster a positive, safe learning environment
• Monitor and document student progress, providing consistent communication to staff and caregivers
• Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings

This role follows a 35-hour work week aligned with the school schedule, offering a consistent routine and the satisfaction of seeing your students’ progress over the course of the assignment.
