Nutrition Manager

Overview The Nutrition Manager oversees the department’s nutrition programs for three senior centers and the Meals on Wheels program, ensuring compliance with state guidelines, health inspections, and food safety standards. Training staff on food safety, sanitation, portion sizes, temperature control and collaborating with the Wellness Center café and MOW food vendors to maintain clear communication. Key Responsibilities Manage, direct, and evaluate staff and volunteers, processing concerns, counseling, disciplining, and completing performance appraisals. Recruit, interview, and hire employees; coordinate training activities. Direct and coordinate senior services and work activities, organizing workload, making assignments, monitoring progress, and inspecting completed work. Oversee unit management including hiring, HR, budget, finances, program and service development, technology, and administration of programming and services. Conduct needs assessments to analyze service needs and programs, compile and monitor data, interpret data, and identify trends. Determine budget needs, monitor expenditures, coordinate budget with staff, and maintain documentation. Prepare annual work plans, develop and implement long‑ and short‑term goals, policies, and procedures, and interpret federal and state program standards. Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. Perform public relations and customer service duties, represent area to community, engage media, give presentations, respond to questions, complaints, and concerns, and initiate problem resolution. Provide in‑service trainings for food safety, portion control, temperature control, sanitation, etc. Create lesson plans and nutrition handouts for group nutrition classes at senior centers and for MOW clients. Collaborate with food vendor dietitians to create menus and conduct nutrition analysis for various diets. Conduct nutrition assessments, diagnoses and interventions, and provide counseling for high‑risk clients. Oversee distribution of therapeutic diets such as mechanical soft, renal diet, supplements, etc., for clients with doctor’s prescription or assess those without PCP. Other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Food Service, or related field. Three to five years of program, facilities, and personnel management experience in social services with a focus on older adults (or equivalent combination). Valid registration and license issued by the Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Dietitians. Provisional license may be considered if another RDN on staff to supervise. Valid driver’s license. ServSafe certification within one year of hire. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the practice of food preparation and service, nutrition education, menu planning and analysis. Knowledge of aging industry and previous work with the senior population. Additional Requirements Physical: ability to exert light effort in sedentary to light work with occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling of objects up to 10 lbs. Skill: ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals; oral communication. Environment: essential functions performed without exposure to adverse conditions.
